Menorah lighting order

Your shamesh is the helper candle that is not counted along with the other eight. This one is usually set slightly apart on the menorah to distiguish it. The shamesh is the candle that you use to light the other candles.

Day 1: Light the candle on the far right side.

Day 2: Add two new candles to the menorah starting from right to left. Light the candles from left to right.

Day 3: Today, add three candles. Place them in the menorah from right to left. Light them from left to right.

Day 4: Four candles. Place them in the menorah from right to left. Light them from left to right.

Day 5: Five candles. Place them in the menorah from right to left. Light them from left to right.

Day 6: Six candles. Place them in the menorah from right to left. Light them from left to right.

Day 7: Seven candles. Place them in the menorah from right to left. Light them from left to right.

Day 8: Eight candles. Place them in the menorah from right to left. Light them from left to right.
